Why live in the Dersingham area of Norfolk?

 

There is a fast and frequent train service to London from King's Lynn and regular half-hourly bus services from Dersingham to King's Lynn.

Dersingham itself has a variety of shops and facilities including a post office, library. supermarket, butcher, baker, chemists, newsagents, medical and dental clinics, hairdressers, churches, public houses and garages. The population of the village is around 4000.

The older houses in the village are constructed mainly of Carr Stone and Flint and the village has a number of Listed buildings of historic interest. The nearby Royal Estate of Sandringham, with its country park and hundreds of acres of luxuriant woods provides the perfect venue throughout the year for walking or just relaxing enjoying the beautiful surroundings.


Sport in the area.

Those interested in sport are well catered for in West Norfolk, Hunstanton and King's Lynn provide fitness facilities, including swimming pools, and for those who wish to play golf, there are many courses within a short drive with King's Lynn and Hunstanton golf courses being particularly good. Both Inland and, for the more hardy, off-shore sailing is readily available.

For those interested in nature, the North Norfolk coast is rich in flora and fauna. It is a bird watcher's paradise with several RSPB sites where the variety and numbers of bird types change with the seasons. The North-West Norfolk coast consists mainly of long stretches of sand, dunes, marshes and low cliffs at Hunstanton only.

A long coast road links the numerous coastal villages where pebble flint is predominant in the buildings. Further inland, and to the West of the region, Carrstone, quarried at nearby Snettisham, provides the character to many houses, cottages and public buildings.

The area is rich in history with Holkam Hall, Houghton Hall and Sandringham House offering stately surroundings closeby.
